Writing in the 21st century is no longer limited to alphabetic text on the static page. To express oneself, to communicate, and to persuade, writers now have a wide range of media available -- the written word, images, sound and video.
Storybuilders has helped educators in both school and out-of-school-time settings integrate new media writing projects into their teaching. We've worked with Hillyer College professor Michele Troy to integrate audio composition into her first-year writing classroom, and Storybuilders' founder Lisa Dush, along with her UMass colleague Casey Burton, has taught courses focused on investigating narrative and place through photo, audio, and video composing assignments.
